Community & Conservation

At Mapito, giving back is a way of being. Every stay contributes to something larger — from restoring healthcare access in nearby villages to supporting local artisans, rangers, and wildlife. Our partnerships are built on respect, impact, and the belief that true luxury uplifts the world around it.

Healthcare for Robanda Village

We have fully renovated the Robanda Healthcare Center, turning a dormant facility into a lifeline for the village. A qualified doctor is now on staff and essential medicines are stocked regularly; all funded by Mapito. Every consultation and treatment is provided free of charge to ensure healthcare is accessible to all.

Meals for Rangers in Seronera

Wildlife rangers working across the Seronera region often go without basic nourishment while on duty. Mapito provides daily lunches for approximately ten rangers, supporting their health and honoring the critical work they do to protect the Serengeti ecosystem.

Tracking Lions to Protect Lives

To help reduce human-wildlife conflict, Mapito funds GPS tracking collars for lions near village borders. These allow rangers to monitor their wellbeing and take early action, if a lion approaches too close to a community, helping to safeguard both people and animals.

250 Local Jobs Through Construction

The creation of Mapito Safari Camp directly generated over 250 construction jobs in surrounding villages. This was not only an investment in the property but a meaningful contribution to local livelihoods, economic resilience, and long-term skills development.

Partnering with Local Artisans & Social Enterprises

Across Mapito, you’ll find handcrafted pieces from Tanzanian community groups, each with a purpose.

Shanga, a social enterprise in Arusha, empowers people with disabilities through recycled glassware and jewelry. Their carafes are in our tents and lounges.

Ifakara Women Weavers, a female-led cooperative, produces sustainable cotton kikoys used in our tents and sold in the gift shop.

Randilen and Fort Ikoma Beaders, Maasai women artisans, create traditional beadwork featured in our camp’s decorative accents.

Ujuzi Africa crafts custom stone, clay, and concrete pieces showcased in tents and shared spaces.

Sanaa trains people with disabilities in weaving and leatherwork, bringing thoughtful detail to our interiors.

Dunia Designs transforms recycled plastic into sustainable furniture found in family and standard tents.

These partnerships enrich Mapito’s design while supporting dignified livelihoods and heritage crafts.
